Products and Services

SMW 104 Federal Credit Union offers many opportunities to save and invest. With a variety of savings type accounts and share certificates, we have something for everybody. All of the accounts are insured up to $100,000 by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) and covered with an additional $250,000 with excessive share insurance through American Share Insurance (ASI). That insures each members account on balances up to $350,000.  Please contact the credit union regarding coverage amounts for IRA and Trust Accounts.

Savings and Investments

Regular Savings Account: The Regular Savings account establishes your membership with the credit union and pays competitive dividends. Deposits can be made in cash, check, payroll deduction, direct deposit, through FSCC Service Centers, with your SMW 104 Federal Credit Union ATM card or transferred between your credit union accounts (checking, vacation pay, etc).  Withdrawals can be made in person,  using your credit union ATM card, at any FSCC Service Center location (your account must be set up for this service, please call the credit union for details if you are not currently established), Online Banking, or through SMARTLINE - our Sheet Metal Workers Audio Response Teller.  Dividends are paid on a minimum balance of $250.

Vacation Pay Account: The vacation pay is available to the member on the fifth working day of the month. This makes it available within 40 days of the month end in which you earned the money. The funds can be accessed in the same way that the Regular Savings can or you can opt to set-up an automatic transfer to one of your other credit union accounts.  Vacation Pay is not a joint account, therefore, if you wish to have a joint owner access the funds, a transfer of funds form will need to be signed and returned to the credit union.  Dividends are paid on balances over $2,500.00.

Checking Account: Our checking accounts feature no monthly service charge, no monthly per check fee and pay dividends on balances over $2,500.00.  

IRA or Roth IRA Account: Our IRA accounts pay competitive dividend rates and provide a tax-deferred source of income for your golden years.

Share Certificates: Terms for our share certificates range from three months up to 36 months and pay very competitive rates. The minimum amount to open a certificate is only $1,000.00. For amounts over $25,000.00 you receive an even higher rate. Certificates with terms of 18 to 36 months are eligible to bump the rate up to the current rate once during the term of the certificate.  The share certificate has a minimal 30-day penalty if it is necessary to access the funds prior to maturity.

IRA Share Certificates: The IRA certificates combine the high yields of the share certificates with the tax advantages of an IRA account.

Loan Payment Account: Our loan payment accounts are used to set money aside (primarily from your Vacation Pay account) for upcoming transfer payments.

Christmas Club/Holiday Account: Your Christmas Club/Holiday account pays competitive rates and is an excellent way to save for the holidays. The funds in the account are disbursed on the first working day in November.

Union Dues Account: The union dues account pays your (Local 104 or Local 162) union dues monthly. Funds can be transferred from your Regular Savings, Vacation Pay, Money Market or checking accounts. Local 104 Authorization forms are available at the credit union or any of the union district offices.   Local 162 members must contact the union office directly.

Tool Payment Account:  The tool payment account is available to Apprentice members of Local 104. Funds are forwarded monthly to Sheet Metal Workers' Local 104 Bay Area Industry Training Fund.

Money Market Account: The Money Market account is ideal for members who want to earn higher dividends than passbook-type accounts yet have more flexibility that a share certificate account. A minimum balance of $2,500.00 is necessary to earn dividends.   You  also have the ability to take up to three withdrawals per month without penalty. 

Other Products & Services:

ATM Cards: We are proud members of the COOP ATM network, and as a member of SMW 104 Federal Credit Union you have access to over 19,000 surcharge free ATM's.  Click here for a complete list of CO-OP ATMs.   Deposit's can be made at any of over 241,000 ATM's on the Star System.  Additionally, Star System point-of-sale (POS) terminals are located at over 1,001,000 merchants including grocery stores, restaurants, department stores, and gas stations.  To utilize the POS terminals it would be best to open a Checking Account with SMW 104 Federal Credit Union as POS transactions on a non-checking account are limited to three per month.  Your PIN can be computer selected or you may choose your own PIN.  The ATM card can access either your Regular Savings or Vacation Pay Account and your Checking or Money Market Account. If you believe your ATM card has been lost or stolen, or if you believe someone is using your card without your permission, immediatley notify the credit union by calling 800 464-5987.  On weekends, holidays or after credit union hours, call 800-754-4128. 

Direct Deposit: Direct Deposit is a safe, convenient way for members to have their paycheck, pension or social security checks deposited directly into their designated credit union account.

Financial Service Centers Cooperative (FSCC): The FSSC is a network of over 1,100 service centers nationwide with nearly 300 in California.  When you visit the service centers you are able to access your credit union account to make deposits, withdrawals or loan payments. You can even access up to $500.00 of your withdrawal in cash!  Transactions require a valid drivers license and credit union account number. Click here for a listing of service center locations.

Online Banking/Bill Payment:  Online Banking offers you the convenience of accessing your credit union account 24 hours a day, 7 days a week via your computer.   A login password is required with Online Banking along with your credit union account number.  If you currently have a password for SMARTLINE (Sheet Metal Audio Response Teller), this will be the same for OnLine Banking.  However, if you do not have a SMARTLINE password, simply call the credit union and have one of our Member Service Representatives assist you.  With Online Banking you can inquire on any of your credit union accounts, make payments, schedule transfers and view transaction history, to name a few.  We also offer Bill Payment.  If you have an SMW 104 Federal Credit Union Checking Account you will be able to schedule payments on a one-time basis or even set up a recurring payment for the same amount each month, such as your home mortgage or car payments.  Online Banking and Bill Payment are FREE! 

Visa Debit Cards:  With the SMW 104 Federal Credit Union Visa Debit Card you can access your credit union checking account worldwide without having to carry your checkbook.  You can also get cash at any ATM displaying the Star, CO-OP, Cirrus or Visa logo.

Use your Debit Card to purchase goods and services exactly like you would use a Visa Credit Card - except that the funds are debited directly from your Checking Account.  Any merchant that accepts Visa Credit Cards will also accept your Visa Debit Card.  To gain the convenience of worldwide account access and purchase power available with your Debit Card, contact the credit union from your Visa Debit Card application!   If you believe your Visa Debit Card has been lost or stolen, or if you believe someone is using your card without your permission, immediately notify the credit union by calling 800 464-5987.  On weekends, holidays or after credit union hours, call 800 682-6075.

SMARTLINE (Sheet Metal Audio Response Teller): SMARTLINE is our audio response systems in which you can access your accounts at the credit union 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to withdraw funds, transfer funds between your credit union accounts, inquire on your balances or obtain the status of checks you have written.  For security purposes you can select your own secure access code. You can use the user-friendly menu mode or the time saving expert mode.  SMARTLINE can be reached by calling 510-483-2078 for local callers or 1-877-500-7627. In order to access SMARTLINE you will need your savings and loan ID's.  Common savings and loan IDs are:
                                                           
Checks will be mailed to the address listed on the account on the next business day. Tips: Enter dollar amounts without decimals. For example, $250.00 would be 25000. Also, enter dates as six-digit numbers. For example, July 4, 1996 would be 070496.
